Natalie Cole to be buried next to parents Monday

R&B legends from Lionel Richie to Stevie Wonder turned out to say goodbye to Natalie Cole on Monday. "It made you feel special as well because she was one of those rare individuals who greeted your soul".

Natalie Cole will be buried next to her parents, sister and brother at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

Smokey Robinson hugs Lionel Richie as they arrive for a funeral service for singer Natalie Cole in Los Angeles, Jan. 11, 2016.

Musical tributes were paid by Stevie Wonder, who sang an a cappella version of the Lord's Prayer, and Chaka Khan during the three-hour service.

The R&B singer died on December 31 at age 65 from a condition called idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension, which she was diagnosed with five years ago following a successful kidney transplant, her family revealed last week. The American music buying public went on to embrace Natalie Cole's new sound and solo career.

Casey's twin, Timolin Cole Augustus, read a condolence letter from United States president Barack Obama to the singer's 38-year-old son Robert Yancy.

Known for songs such as "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" and "I've Got Love On My Mind", her biggest hit was a virtual duet with her late father of "Unforgettable".

"I remember meeting Peggy Lee, Danny Thomas, Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and so many others at parties", she told The Wall Street Journal in 2014. She won five Grammy awards that year, including Album of the Year.

A rehab stint in 1983 turned her life around, she said.

Foster collaborated with Cole when she intertwined her voice with that of her father to make his "Unforgettable" a multi-Grammy-winning hit through technological wizardry in 1991. She also suffered from Hepatitis C and a liver disease in 2008. Those issues contributed to her health woes in recent years even as she maintained a busy performing schedule.
