Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro Specs To Include All-Metal Body, Fingerprint Sensor

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro has been spotted ahead of an official launch although it's essentially the same phone in a different wrapper.

Xiaomi apparently has another budget-friendly phablet in the works, this time sporting a sleeker full-metal body and a fingerprint scanner, among the highlights. The Redmi Note 2 Pro will also have an additional fingerprint sensor at the back, like many premium smartphones available.

Xiaomi is apparently on a roll, getting great media attention thanks to its achievements. Xiaomi announced that the Redmi Note 2 will not be sold in India and will remain limited to China, but we're hoping that won't be the case with this new handset.

In terms of specifications, the Redmi Note 2 Pro is pretty much the same as the Redmi Note 2 with a few premium features in the Pro version.

However, there is no update on whether or not Xiaomi will provide updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, the Michigan 5 is not the only Xiaomi smartphone that is getting a major upgrade.

It was long believed that Xiaomi was working on a second generation model of the Redmi Note Pro (Mi Note Pro).

It will come with 32GB of storage inside, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB). The live shots suggest the presence of an iPhone 6-like metal body on the new smartphone. Other reported features of the Michigan 5 include a 5.2-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, 16-megapixel rear camera, eight-megapixel front camera, a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 proved to be one of the top-selling smartphones in China mainly due to its attractive $150 price tag, driving sales of more than 5 million units in less than one month.

With nothing officially confirmed at this point, however, it's best to take all leaks and reports with a grain of salt.
