Spectre's Naomie Harris reveals Idris Elba doesn't want to be James Bond

He once said it would be a "huge honour" to play James Bond, but now Naomie Harris has claimed that Idris Elba doesn't want to play 007.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Royal premiere of Spectre to Susannah Reid, Naomie said: "It's incredible". Definitely expect (sexual chemistry). You're going to fall in love with Bond.

The gender of the Bond legacy has become a recent topic of discussion, with Harris saying she does not think it is a bad idea to have a female play the spy.

Founded by Bob Hoffman in 1967, and originally called Fischer-Hoffman Psychic Therapy, the system helps those who really want to be the best person they can be - and Naomie admits it was a big deal for her.

The actress previously admitted that she didn't think that she had the right "assets" for a role in a James Bond movie.

She said: "I never thought I'd get it. Bond girls have always been in their 20s, so I thought I was too old. I've said before I think he'd be great, but he's said his piece".

The Bond universe is filled with solitary human beings, with Daniel Craig famously describing Bond as a "lonely misogynist" earlier this year, though both Harris and Whishaw think Craig/Mendes have negotiated the character away from this somewhat.

At the same time, the new Moneypenny does not secretly pine for Bond; but rather, it's Bond who feels jealous when she's with someone else. In "SPECTRE", Bond is on a mission but we don't know who's sanctioned it. He may have gone rogue.

Naomie also credits the role for "changing her career" and helping her secure big roles. "Daniel wasn't particularly well known - very revered actor but was not a huge worldwide star - so I suspect it would be good if it was someone like that who's just under the radar a bit at the moment".

That decision eventually led to Naomie taking on a series of tough roles, which spiked the interest of the Bond producers, and now she has picked up where Lois Maxwell left off as 007's sexy and savvy sidekick. "It's all about numbers".
