Albuquerque police: Man shot multiple times in the legs

Davon Lymon, an ex-convict charged in the shooting of an Albuquerque police officer, is escorted by Albuquerque police officers after being released from the hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., Saturday, October 24, 2015.

Webster suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body and jaw on the night of October 21 after Davon Lymon, 34, opened fire outside a pharmacy and fled, police said.

The officer had stopped a motorcycle that was displaying a stolen license plate near the intersection of Central Avenue and Eubank Boulevard at approximately 8:00 pm.

Police say several people ran from the SUV when officers located it several blocks from the shooting site.

Officer Webster was a 20-year U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Albuquerque Police Department for eight years.

"I used to be a police officer and I can't imagine how hard they have it nowadays, and we just wanted to come by in his honor and drop off a card and give our wishes and prayers to him and his family", Snowden said.

Authorities also said a.40-caliber semi-automatic pistol was found in a vacant lot where Lymon headed after the shooting. He pleaded guilty to charges in that case, and to fraud and forgery charges from the year before.
