Maruti, Hyundai Record Best-Ever Monthly Sales in October

Data gathered by the European Automobile Manufacturer's Association revealed that Kia Motors was able to sell 95,102 units in Europe from July until September, increasing its sales by 9.7 percent from past year.

Overall, sales of Kia Motors for the first nine months of the year increased by 8.3 percent from 2014, with a total of 295,140 units sold. "Another factor behind the brisk domestic sales is a cut in special consumption taxes imposed on vehicles".

The company had sold 56,019 units in the same month past year, HMIL said in a statement.

"Hyundai sales of 47,015 units are all-time highest with an all-time high sales of Grand i10 with 14,079 units", said senior vice-president, sales and marketing, Rakesh Srivastava. It had sold 13,242 units in the same month previous year. This means they recorded an increase of 24.7% in the domestic market as compared to October 2014.

Ssangyong Motor, the smallest carmaker owned by India's auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra, posted a 16.2 percent growth in its October sales, mostly driven by strong domestic sales, which jumped 83.5 percent from a year earlier.

"We are happy with our performance during October 2015, which has witnessed a positive growth of 20 per cent backed by excellent response garnered from the recently launched TUV300 as well as other brands such as XUV500, Scorpio, Bolero and pickups". Hyundai, which used to be the largest exporter of cars till 2013-14, lost its pole position to Nissan Motor India Pvt.

Tata Motors domestic passenger vehicles sales were up 11 per cent at 12,798 units in the period under review compared with 11,511 units past year.

The company aims to continue growth with upcoming launches like the YBA compact SUV. Together, they account for over 20,000 units in domestic sales.
