Residents begin cleanup process as officials investigate possible tornado near

Tornadoes damaged a few homes in Tangipahoa Parish and Pearl River County, though no injuries were immediately reported.

Possible tornadoes caused damage in Louisiana and Mississippi as a strong line of thunderstorms crossed the two states Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. But that did not end the bad weather threat for the New Orleans area and parts of Mississippi.

A 40 percent chance of precipitation remains Saturday morning, a 20 percent chance is expected in the afternoon, and a 10 percent chance is expected for Saturday evening.

Severe Thunderstorm warnings are now in effect or Washington Parish and Tangipahoa Parish until 3:45 p.m.

Officials said four homes were damaged from the storm that moved through.

A Flash Flood Warning was in effect in Bexar County and numerous surrounding areas Friday morning until 9 a.m., as a torrent of rain washed over the area.

A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable in and around the watch area for the development of tornadoes. They also found storm and wind damage on a home along Myers Road, off of Fowler Road.

In Leesville in central Louisiana, local media reported street flooding, and there were reports of flooding in coastal areas as the storm system pushed waters ashore.
