Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog fined for hit on Brad Marchand

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has suspended Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog for two games without pay after an illegal check to the head of Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand during a game on Thursday. Landeskog, who during the game was assessed a -to-the-head major penalty and game misconduct, had a telephone hearing with Quintal in the morning.

I mean, there are certain reasons to be a little fretful of Duchene right now.

Marchand, meanwhile, gets the fine for the sucker punch. Marchand was struck by the back-checking Landeskog during his follow-through of a shot attempt.

Grigorenko, a 2012 first round draft pick who was obtained in June from Buffalo in the multi-player deal that sent Ryan O'Reilly to the Sabres, had three assists in his first 13 games with Colorado.

Boston (7-7-1), which pounded Colorado 6-2 in Denver a month ago, fell to 1-5-1 at home, and much of that had to do with Avalanche goalie Reto Berra, who persevered after his teammates let him down early.

Duchene also is making news nationally.

If the Colorado Avalanche are shopping Matt Duchene, the Toronto Maple Leafs should get involved. Suddenly, the Avs are controlling play and outshooting teams.

The rumors spread throughout the week, with and Pierre LeBrun saying Duchene's "name was out there" and both Darren Dreger and Bruce Garrioch writing that the Ottawa Senators have kicked the tires on a Duchene trade. But I think I'm okay. "Guys are going to be hearing that all year for teams that aren't doing as well".

"I knew that if I just stuck with it, stayed positive and didn't grip the stick too much, eventually they would start going in", Duchene said. The B's are now amidst their quietest offensive stretch of the season, as they've scored two goals or less in four straight games.

Landeskog added: "We saw the same thing with Paul Stastny for the two years I played with Paul". At that point, it looked like the B's were going to run the Avalanche out of the building, but the B's couldn't even get out of the first period with a lead.

It is important to note that Marchand is eligible to be hit on this play.
