Adele pretends to be Adele impersonator named Jenny

Adele leaves Radio City Music Hall on November 17, 2015, in NY City.

As one by one the impersonators took to the stage to give their best rendition of the Hello singer, Adele pretended to be sick, needing to step out a bit to get a fresh air.

Adele adopted a husky voice and called herself Jenny to throw off the other singers.

The genius scheme was instigated by talk show host Graham Norton who waited in the wings as it all unfolded.

She also explains how her throat surgery in 2011 changed her voice as her vocals on "25" sound different to her previous offerings. Another impersonator says, "Try saying that to her face, I'd like to see the reaction".

Adele pranked her impersonators in a BBC video.

For those of you who may have just emerged from living under a rock, pop star extraordinaire Adele released her greatly anticipated album "25" Friday. The singer she was a nanny named Jenny as she and the impersonators took part in an audition.

The special - presented by Graham Norton - is Adele's first televised performance since she sang at the Academy Awards in 2013.

She performed last out of the nine hopefuls, and as soon as she opened her mouth to sing 'feel my love', the penny began to drop.

Adele likes to have a joke, we all know that.
