Xbox Live's Countdown Sale Kicks off Today

The entire "Countdown" sale runs until December 31, with another sale running until January 7 to ring in the New Year.

Be warned though, because some of these will only be available for a limited time each day, so it's worth taking advantage of them when you can.

Other recent news and commentary from Spencer has included plans for bringing even more games to the backwards compatible features on the Xbox One and the possibility of a Xbox app for Mac.

On the 42-second trailer, we see a montage of games that would probably be up for sale via the Xbox Store. This sale christened as the "Countdown Sale", kicking off on December 22, has blockbusters to boot for between 40% to 60% off, and 10% more for Xbox Live Gold members. The Countdown sale starts today and will offer 17 days of deals on countless games aside from apps, movies and TV shows. No doubt Microsoft had some agreement with Ubisoft in offloading their overstock titles into sales promotions.

Some of the top gaming deals include Halo 5 at £35.99, Rise of the Tomb Raider for £33.49 and Rare Replay priced at £16.59. You can earn more points if you join the Xbox Live Rewards, plus you can great deals on blockbuster games for a discounted price, these include Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Assassin's Creed Syndicate. This Year-End Xbox One Games deal has two parts.

The below shows a preview of the sale, but it doesn't have any particular prices or games listed as yet. If you're a user, it will be worth following Major Nelson over the course of this sale, as he will be tweeting notifications about daily deals.

The games being discounted aren't just no-name indie titles or games which are a decade old.
