New WhatsApp messenger to introduce video calling, tabbed chats

Just after Christmas Eve, rumors started spreading about the much-awaited WhatsApp Messenger update.

Facebook has been promising to add video calling to WhatsApp for a long time and from the pair of leaked screenshots obtained by German Apple blog Macerkopf.de it looks like it will be a reality soon.

After voice calling, now the Whatsapp users are exciting about the new video call feature.

According to the website, the screenshots are from version 2.12.16.2 of the app, which is now being tested internally.

The new update is rumored to have another interesting feature, multi-tab user interface, which would give WhatsApp an edge over other messaging applications, such as Viber and Hangouts. Multiple chat tabs will be available in this new feature so that the users can quickly change between individual chats. The brand has established its presence as a major force in the markets, and with over 900million monthly active users and an ad-free platform, it has won many hearts.

Facebook had bought WhatsApp for $22 billion past year after which the messaging app has continued to grow, with the addition of many new features.

The year 2015 is finally coming to an end and WhatsApp owners will be proud to know that this app is comfortably topping the list of apps with respect to numbers. This development is expected to bring the ubiquitous messaging app in direct competition with current dominant market players FaceTime and Skype. As of this moment, nothing has been announced officially, but video-based calling seems like the next logical move forward as WhatsApp attacks Skype in 2016. Hence, many people are concerned as to how WhatsApp will be able to overcome this drawback.
