Grief counselors at Allegan school following sledding death

The teen later died from his injuries. It is not clear if charges will be filed against the driver. According to the Allegan County Sheriff's Department, the collision happened just before noon on 133rd Avenue near 53rd Street.

Deputies will turn their investigation over to the Allegan County Prosecutor's Office for review. Sgt. Cory Hunt said Sunday it is being treated as a "family matter" and a tragic accident.

Emergency crews responded to an 11:49 a.m. call reporting the accident. The name of the victim's older brother has not been released. The sled ran into a tree and EMT's were called. The Allegan County Sheriff's Department says during that flight, the boy's condition took a sudden turn for the worse, and he was pronounced dead on arrival. An Aero Med helicopter responded to the scene.

Alcohol was not a factor. School Superintendent David Tebo says Mason was "the kid next door", WOOD-TV reports. His death touched many in the small community south of Holland.
