Milos Raonic stunned by Stanislas Wawrinka's wonderful retrieving

Wawrinka had few answers to the serve and volley game of Raonic in the opening set, with the Canadian's precise play at the net causing the fourth seed plenty of problems.

The French Open champion should be tested a little further in the fourth round when he meets Canada's 13th-seed Milos Raonic, who beat Serbia's Victor Troicki 6-2 6-3 6-4.

Milos Raonic has always turned heads with his big serve. "Normally the matchup is tough for Stan but if he's sharp mentally and physically, I think he's going to be hard to beat".

The Canadian, who had won 58 of 60 service games in the tournament, was broken when he ended a five-point rally with a forehand he pushed well long of the baseline.

Earlier, Victoria Azarenka couldn't get off court quickly enough to check the score after reaching the Australian Open quarterfinals.

Raonic didn't face a single break point on his serve as he breezed through the first two sets on Margaret Court Arena but had to fight back from an early break in the third to record the 6-2 6-3 6-4 win.

"I feel like I'm putting in the work and I'm getting the results from it", Raonic told reporters. Odds are that Wawrinka will prevail, as he won the event in 2014 and lost to eventual champ Djokovic in last year's semifinals. "I was with one foot in the plane back to Germany", she said.

It was Raonic's first win on Rod Laver Arena, too, "so that's a nice plus".

Azarenka won her Australian titles in 2012 and 2013.

After the Swiss drew level by claiming the fourth - to the crowd's fervent approval - a Raonic toilet break might have settled the 13th seed. Like some soccer player, I don't know how to say it in English, but they jump and they do it.

Milos Raonic was left stunned by Stanislas Wawrinka's incredible retrieving ability as he lost a point during their Australian Open fourth-round match. But for her, it's a good thing.

Raonic is unbeaten in eight matches so far this year - including a win against Roger Federer in the Brisbane final two weeks ago - and praised the impact of his new coach and former world No 1 Carlos Moya.

"I'm very happy with the way I played, the way I competed", Raonic said. "Now I trust my forehand, that's for sure".

Azarenka, trying for a third title in Melbourne, will encounter a familiar foe in Barbora Strycova in the fourth round, having defeated the Czech at the Australian Open the previous two seasons.

On the other side of the world, the Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year.

"It's very painful. I can not even grip anything right now".

Next up for Murray will be No. 8 David Ferrer, a two-time semifinalist, who held off No. 10-seeded John Isner 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.

Andrey Kuznetsov, who had been one of the surprises in the tournament this year, posed some problems for , but the Frenchman was able to overcome his threat and reach the quarter-finals. The Spaniard was terrific at the net and returning serve, winning 22-of-24 net points in the match and 44 percent of his return points.
