Edhi has accepted PM's Rs.one crore donation

"We are not parting, we could go there to see her and she could come here", Faisal Edhi said, adding that the foundation had also arranged to communicate with Geeta through Skype.

Geeta, who is in her 20s, wandered across the border after being separated from her family and had been living in the Pakistani city of Lahore. Clutching a bouquet of flowers, the young lady smiled, waved and fought back tears in hopes of being reunited with her long-lost family after indentifying them earlier this month from photos sent by the Indian High Commission in Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference with Geeta and Ms. Edhi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj profusely thanked Ms. Edhi, the Edhi Foundation and all the others who worked hard for the past many months to help Geeta return home.

Modi thanked Bilquis Edhi, the founder of the Karachi-based Edhi Foundation, for taking care of Geeta in Pakistan. "We will make her sit again with them (Mahatos) so that she recollects her memory", the minister had said. If DNA tests prove negative, officials say Geeta will be kept at a shelter home in India while her long-lost family members are found.

A day after her return from Pakistan, Geeta took a ride today on the Delhi Metro and also visited the Metro Museum in New Delhi.

The Pakistani media is closely following Geeta's journey back home. She failed, however, to recognise a family which she had initially identified from photographs and Swaraj said that she will be staying in Indore till her "real family" was found.

The government will now carry out a DNA test to ascertain if the family, who met her in Delhi, is really hers. She met the couple who were believed to be her parents but could not recognize them. The family reportedly lives in Bihar.

Pakistan's noted humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi on Tuesday refused to accept Prime Minister Narendra Modi's donation of Rs 1 crore to his charity.
