Scott Weiland Says Classic Guns N' Roses Lineup Will Reunite

Weiland, who was once in a war of words with Axl Rose and went on to front Slash's supergroup Velvet Revolver, was answering a question about the Rose feud in an interview with Alterative Nation.

Slash wasn't the only one who fought with GNR's singer.

Weiland released two albums with Velvet Revolver, 2004's Contraband and 2007's Libertad, before the band split in 2008.

Rumors of Guns N' Roses reuniting has been in a constant state of flux: some say yes. I heard on Wednesday night that it would be Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, Slash and Axl Rose - the reformation of the original 1987 Appetite for Destruction Guns N' Roses! "I think that Guns N' Roses are getting back together", Weiland said, adding that he doesn't have any inside information: "I just heard that". "I remember a little bit about it", Weiland said.

"I think that Guns N' Roses' [classic line-up] are getting back together", he explains, responding to reports suggesting Slash and Rose have mended their broken friendship in recent months.

Here is the recap: (Classic Rock) Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke recalls how a "pissed off" Axl Rose brought his spell with the band to an abrupt end. I actually didn't know the news that Slash and Axl had talked, and I see him all the time.

In July 2015, GNR guitarist Darren Jay "DJ" Ashba and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal left the group. Ashba had been with the band since 2009; Bumblefoot joined in 2006.

Check Alternative Nation on Monday for Weiland's most candid interview in years where he discusses what really led to tension in STP during the band's reunion, Chester Bennington's status with STP, collaborating with ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Nirvana, Sub Pop, STP's early days as Swing and Mighty Joe Young, his inspiration behind Blaster, and much more.
