Questions Loom About Bernie Sanders Qualifying for First Democratic Primary

Bernie Sanders is at least interesting and appears to believe what he is saying even if I personally agree with NOTHING he has said. The Sanders campaign confirmed to ABC News that Sanders will write in "Democrat" on the form.

The Secretary of State's office has been receiving dozens of calls from Sanders supporters in recent days, urging Gardner to put Sanders on the Democratic ballot. Sanders, a long-time Independent, declared himself a Democrat while filing on Thursday.

Burke, who is a former St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee Chair, said he also bumped into Ohio Governor and Republican presidential candidate John Kasich "and his entourage of about 40 people" as he was leaving the statehouse "but we never spoke to each other".

During the South Carolina Democratic forum this past Friday, O'Malley touted his credentials as a lifelong Democrat who fully supported the president in 2012 before saying Sanders was trying to get someone to run against Obama.

"In this campaign, he chose to run for the Democratic Party nomination". He desperately needs to be in the New Hampshire primary to legitimize his quest for the presidential nomination. Buckley would not say whether the Sanders campaign requested his presence. During the summer he surged ahead of Clinton in a few of the polls but a new New Hampshire poll released November 3 showed Clinton back in front, 48 percent to 45 percent.

But Neil Levesque, executive director of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm College, summed it up well in an interview with The Wall Street Journal when he said, "Sanders is not a member of the party he is choosing to lead, and that's awkward".

Former Gov. Martin O'Malley was in Concord Wednesday to file his primary paperwork.

 

If in fact his party status was tested, the New Hampshire State Ballot Commission would consider a challenge at its next meeting on November 24, issuing a decision shortly thereafter - a decision that could have drastic ramifications on the a democratic race.
