Girl stuck in school lift, dies

A toddler died on Tuesday after she got her head stuck in the doors of the elevator at a private school in Hyderabad's Dilsukhnagar locality of India.

A 3-year-old girl child died after getting her head stuck in the doors of the elevator at her school in Hyderabad.

The recent report revealed Syeda Zainab, a nursery student from the Sri Chaitanya Star Kids School, entered the lift along with a group of teachers and students.

Her classmates are too traumatized and scared to talk but we gathered that midway when the doors of the elevator opened, Syeda stuck her head out and immediately the doors closed and the elevator moved, crushing her to death.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, sources said.

Horror-struck children and the teacher ran out of the lift as soon as it halted and it took more than half an hour to remove the body of the child from the elevator, police said. The Police maintained that no CCTV cameras were installed on the school premises.

The principal and the child's teacher have been arrested, the police said.

The school is functioning in a ground-plus-two storeyed building and Fatima's class is situated on the first floor.

Upset and angry parents, family members and locals staged a protest outside the school premises and demanded actions against the school management. Police registered a case of negligence against the school management under section 304-a of the IPC.
