Johnny Depp was the most overpaid actor in Hollywood in 2015

Johnny Depp was included in the same list created in 2014 as well but then actor Adam Sandler was leading the list.

Mortdecai strikes again. Johnny Depp was officially named the most overpaid actor of the year by Forbes. "Mortdecai", another commercial flop, grossed $47 million worldwide on a production budget of $60 million. He returned just $6.50 (£4.39) for every dollar he was paid.

Forbes bestowed the dubious distinction on Depp, noting that his movies returned $1.20 for every $1 paid to the actor.

Johnny Depp has landed himself on Forbes' most overpaid actors list for the second year in a row - and he topped it!

Depp, who can command an eight-figure salary on his projects, unseated Adam Sandler, the holder of the nefarious title for the past two years. Depp, 52, was number two on Forbes' infamous list past year.

By comparison, Avengers star Chris Evans, Hollywood's best bang for buck actor, returned an average of $181 for every $1 he was paid. Unlike Depp, Washington's ranking is likely due to an "inflated pay cheque".

A league table compiled by Forbes, the business magazine, calculates that he is the least bankable actor among the magazine's list of 100 celebrities. Liam Neeson and Will Smith also raked in less than $9 for every dollar of their paychecks. A surprising inclusion is Channing Tatum in seventh place, mainly as an effect of the box office failure of the sprawling Wachowski siblings space fantasy Jupiter Ascending at the box office. They include Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence.
