Cleveland Browns: Austin Davis to start in Sunday's game

He admitted that the Browns don't know yet if Johnny Manziel can be their quarterback of the future because "there are problems" that need to be addressed in the offseason.

Per Tony Grossi, Manziel reported to the team facility Wednesday and told the staff about some symptoms of a possible concussion.

Pettine, whose job security has been in doubt for months, met with the media Thursday for the final time before the season concludes Sunday vs. Pittsburgh at FirstEnergy Stadium.

"I absolutely want to be able to finish out and then some, but that's out of my control", said Pettine. "I don't think you can be as effective as you can be as a player if things aren't right off the field and he's a good example of that". The drama surrounding Johnny Manziel and the flame out after a decent start has all the trademarks of a situation where ownership would make a change at the top.

Pettine said he has been given no assurances from owner Jimmy Haslam that he will be back for a third season.

Browns linebacker Karlos Dansby (toe), cornerback Tramon Williams (concussion), wide receiver Marlon Moore (concussion), running back Glenn Winston (concussion), tackle Joe Thomas (knee) and Manziel (concussion) did not practice.

He played in 10 games, including eight starts for the Rams a year ago. A similar video of Manziel surfaced Sunday night, and Pettine said he has not yet had the opportunity to discuss it with Manziel, but said the circumstances surrounding this video differ from the one that got Manziel demoted earlier in the season. Pettine said it's not yet known if Manziel has a concussion but it's "looking that way".

This time, Party Manziel took a video of himself rapping along to the song "March Madness" by Future, which wouldn't be bad... if he didn't have a Four Loko in his hand. He was at home on his day off. But as far as the judgment of it getting out there, I question that, Pettine said.

The Browns starting quarterback is being evaluated for a head injury and could miss Sunday's season finale at home against Pittsburgh. Going back to there, that was more trust and accountability than it was necessarily the act.

"I just think if you look at our youth, and also just the offensive system that Flip (offensive coordinator John DeFilippo) has put in, I think the guys have really bought into it", Pettine said. Davis said. "They have a lot to play for, so we know they're going to come in and play hard. Some areas we've gotten better and others we haven't". Davis started the Browns' Week 13 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, completing 25 of 38 attempts for 230 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
