Stephen Curry: Spurs Are The Standard

In his first game of the season, Steve Kerr was treated to a front-row seat to the Stephen Curry Show, and it did not disappoint.

Kerr had missed 43 games with migraine headaches prompted by leakage of spinal cord fluid following two back surgeries in the off-season. The basket, his 200th triple on the season, made him the first player in National Basketball Association history with four-straight seasons totaling 200 or more three-pointers. Iguodala couldn't it and fought off Pacer defenders to retain control of it. He then threw it up to Leandro Barbosa, the only Warriors in the frontcourt.

The Cavaliers promoted associate coach Tyronn Lue to head coach, with general manager David Griffin saying that despite their record, the team was "regressing". "It's nice to know he's making that commitment to get back".

An emotional Kerr waved and said, "Thank you" when he received a rousing ovation during pregame introductions. Late in the quarter, Curry secured his 10th rebound of the night, earning his second triple-double of the season.

"I've been waiting for this for a long time...."

"I felt great", Kerr said afterwards. I'm thankful that he's once again able to take it all in from the best seat in the house. Tobias Harris added 22 points, and Nik Vucevic had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

"But at the end of the day, win or lose, we're going to compete".

Interim head coach Luke Walton, who led the champs in Kerr's absence, will return to his spot as top assistant.

Rather than just fixate on how quickly he's jumping up off the bench, it's easier to gauge the mental health of someone who just came back from an extended leave of absence.

G Monta Ellis had 18 points, all in the second half Friday.

The Warriors went on to a 122-110 victory over the Indiana Pacers, pushing their league-best record to 40-4, and, as usual, there were other bursts of Oracle applause and moments of great Warriors satisfaction. James Harden finished with a game-high 30 points plus eight assists while Terrence Jones (14 points, eight rebounds, four blocks), and guards Ty Lawson (11 points) and Marcus Thornton (10) scored in double figures off the bench for the Rockets. So much of the attention was surreal that Kerr, after addressing the media for almost 15 minutes after the game, walked off the stage and mused to PR man Raymond Ridder about how long the cameras stuck to his face before the game had even begun. Golden State, after all, was on its way to committing 17 turnovers. Kerr pulled the plug early with Thompson checking in after two minutes in the second quarter, and brought back both Thompson and Green after three minutes in the fourth quarter.
