Mumbai Youth suspected to have joined ISIS

No confirmation of radicalisation by Daesh but one of the three men is in the Middle East.

The three youths are identified as Ayaz Sultan (23), Mohsin Sheikh (26) and Wajid Sheikh (25), all residents of Malvani area in western suburb of Mumbai.

After Wajid did not return home, Wajid's wife filed a missing person's complaint.

According to the police, Sultan, who was working in a private company, left home after telling his family that he is going to Pune in connection with a job offer from a Kuwaiti company.

According to the complaint, Ayaz has been missing since October 30 whereas Mohsin and Wajid are untraceable since December 16. He called home later that day to say he would be late. Mohsin told his parents that he was going to attend his friend's marriage function and Wajid said that he was going to correct his name in his Aadhar card (identity card issued by the government).

"Only Ayaz had a passport while the other two did not".

Wajid had left two mobile phones home before leaving.

They left the city making excuses before their family, which have now approached the police.

Ayaz is a college dropout and was enrolled in a computer course. He lived with his mother, brother, and sister. His phone is also switched off. All the three people who are missing were friends. "They used to regularly meet at a particular location in the area". At first, police did not do anything to trace Ayaz. "They are missing since the same afternoon and are yet to be contacted".

Wazid's father Bashir Shaikh said, "I never saw him meeting anyone or going anywhere without informing us". If they find any changes in their behaviour, they should come straight to us.

Wajid's family is originally from Hospet in Karnataka.

Wahid, a graduate, got married 10 months ago. Wajid is an auto driver. Officials think he and Wajid could have left together. "We have done this with several youngsters in the past and our work has been appreciated by the community", said Phansalkar. "We just want him to come back".

It is the need of the hour to take strict action against such organizations who are brainwashing the youth and it is important for all parents to keep a check on what their children are doing.

The team will also show them how to include themselves in friend and follower lists, so they can stay abreast of children's social networks.

The ATS appealed to parents and relatives to keep track of the activities of their children.
