Police Arrest & Charge Men In Murder Of Amanda Blackburn

Taylor was arrested overnight on a preliminary murder charge in Amanda Blackburn's killing and is being held at the Marion County Jail.

Curry announced murder, burglary and other charges against 18-year-old Larry Jo Taylor Jr. and 21-year-old Jalen E. Watson for the November 10 attack during which Blackburn was fatally shot. The individual told police Taylor admitted to shooting Blackburn in the upper body, then in her head as she was laying on the ground.

Two men have now been charged with murder in relation to Amanda's death.

"I feel like being angry, but that doesn't lead to anything down the road", said Pastor Davey Blackburn, whose wife was shot to death in their Indianapolis home.

Police said last week a handgun had been found near the home Blackburn, 28, shared with her husband and son at the time of the November 10 shooting.

As the suspects went before a judge, they were given enhanced charges for the murder of Amanda and Davey's unborn child. Police believe the trio robbed at least two houses before encountering Blackburn in a third house.

The Blackburns moved to Indianapolis in 2012 to start Resonate Church, and "Amanda made it her life's calling to love and serve everyone she knew".

The murder and robbery of Amanda Blackburn may have been the deadliest chapter in a crime spree allegedly carried out by a group of Indianapolis men, authorities stated Monday.

Taylor, Watson and a third man are accused of breaking into a home and stealing auto keys, a laptop and an iPhone from the sleeping occupant's bedroom. Blackburn said investigators have told him they have a "solidly-built case". Police had sought the public's help by circulating images of a man caught on home surveillance cameras.

She was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, where she died the following day. "I'm proud of the woman that she was and the mother that she was", he said. That man has not yet been charged in the crimes, but Curry said he is being held on a parole violation in an unrelated case. The receipt was from a Chase Bank ATM, and the debit card shown on the receipt matched Amanda Blackburn's stolen card. "I'm just going to assume that people named Jalen and Diano who were part of something called "The Kill Gang" with Larry Taylor (male, black, 5′ 8", 145) are also black males.

"When officers arrived, they located the victim at the home, unresponsive, and suffering from apparent signs of trauma", the release said.
