Mark Richt, the next South Carolina head coach?

That is, until now.

Richt played hardball with Georgia around the bowl game past year, and it worked out in his favor.

That's all Georgia mustered in its 27-3 loss Saturday to rival Florida, which all but removes the Bulldogs from the SEC East title conversation.

Brice Ramsey has yet to start a game for Georgia, but has stood in Georgia's backfield a handful of times this season. "People are going to love you when you're doing good, they're going to hate you when you do bad". You can't please everybody. You've got to keep battling.

"We know we have to play better and we know we have to catch the ball better", said offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. This team isn't good enough to win if we just give opponents points.

Georgia's offense may have a few new vacancies this week. Not necessarily the game or the coach or the players - just the whole atmosphere surrounding Georgia football. "No matter who is in there, it just seems like another big, talented guy comes in". Would we have enough money to develop sufficient technology to allow us to travel back in time and win this game or, better yet, make it where UGA football never existed so no one ever feels this pain? They got their wish, as he and former offensive line coach Will Friend are now in Fort Collins coaching the Colorado State Rams. The Mountaineers don't seem to be making a ton of progress in their Big 12 transition, and new athletics director Shane Lyons probably wouldn't get much pushback if he decided to make a change.

Georgia's offensive line had trouble getting the push against Florida's defense on Saturday. Georgia (5-3 overall, 3-3 SEC) was out of the East race before the month of November, meaning it will be 11 years since Georgia's last SEC title. Minnesota then went for the win instead of overtime with two seconds left and got stuffed on a quarterback sneak, providing a gut-punch ending to a really bad week for Minnesota fans. The only place Nebraska clearly upgraded with Riley was in being easy to work with and genial in his handling of the more public, less desirable parts of the job. "That's part of it".

"You always hear that Coach Richt is a strong Christian man and I have no doubt about that", Darrell said. "He drew me here when I met the guy".

We are told interim athletics director Beth Goetz is a legitimate candidate to get the job full-time and that interim coach Tracy Claeys is the favorite to succeed Kill on a permanent basis.

"I respect Mark for his integrity", he said.

Then, Georgia wins a big rivalry game, and Bulldog fans look around and...

Georgia managed 223 total yards (lowest against Florida since 1991) and was 2 of 14 on third-down/fourth-down conversions. Why has an offensive line that returned four starters achieved so little?

Without the dynamic Chubb and his ability to make defenders miss, the Bulldogs' offense might as well be in cold storage.

Both the University of Tennessee and the University of Texas forced out their legendary head coaches in recent years: Tennessee's Philip Fulmer after 2008 and Texas' Mack Brown two years ago.

The losing is getting old, as is holding out for hope that Georgia will play for a National Championship under its current head coach. At 6'3, 215 lbs., he has the size to be a starting quarterback in the SEC. No team in the SEC Western Division looked invincible, and all except Mississippi State had quarterback questions. Greyson Lambert has started every game for Georgia, up to Saturday's game against Florida in which Faton Bauta took the honors, perpetuating the theme of a revolving door at quarterback. In fact, we control our own destiny from here on out.

Bauta provided nothing with his feet (3 carries, 4 yards) or right arm. Jerry Kill's sudden retirement because of health issues is a big blow to the momentum Minnesota had established, and the stakes are going to be very high for the decision on his replacement.
